What we do not collect

MasterCaption processes your videos, audio, transcripts and captions on your Mac. This content is not sent to us or to third parties.

What we collect

  • Account: your email address and account identifiers, used to sign in and check your license.
  • Purchases: Paddle.com processes payments as our Merchant of Record and collects payment and billing details under its own privacy policy. We receive only what is needed to provide your license, such as your email, country and the product you purchased. We never receive your full card details.
  • Support and feedback: when you contact us or send feedback from the app, we receive your message, your email, and the app and macOS versions.
  • Optional diagnostics: if you enable them, the app sends crash and error reports containing technical data. They do not include media, transcripts, captions, file names or file contents. Test (beta) versions send these reports automatically, and testers are told this before installing.
  • Website analytics, when available: only with your consent. We do not use advertising trackers.

Your language preference

The website uses the mastercaption-language cookie to remember your chosen language for up to one year. It stores only the language preference and is not used for advertising.

In automatic mode, we use the language preference supplied by your browser or device. You can return to automatic mode in the language selector or remove the cookie in your browser settings.

Why we use this data

  • To provide the Software and your license: performance of a contract.
  • To answer support requests and fix bugs: legitimate interest, or consent for optional diagnostics.
  • To meet tax and accounting obligations: legal obligation.

Service providers

Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area under appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

  • Paddle: payment processing.
  • Vercel: website and report server hosting.
  • Resend: email delivery.

How long we keep data

  • Account and purchase data: while you have an account, plus the period required by tax law.
  • Support messages and diagnostic reports: up to 24 months.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and, for users in Brazil, the LGPD, you may ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, or object to its use. Send your request by email.

You can also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission or the data protection authority in your country.

Children

MasterCaption is not intended for children under 16.
